Challenges in Engineering Deliverables

The Engineering Document Deliverable Register (EDDR) was created and monitored in MS Excel. The progress of the milestone tasks is updated based on manual inquiries. The Transmittal Release date is communicated by the document controller to the planning engineer based on which the documents pending with the client are tracked.   

Documents were shared with the Windows sharing facility. The document controller kept a record of all the various revisions and versions of documents. Correspondence Management was limited to storing hard copies of project-related emails.

The EDDR was exported into Wrench and monitored through electronic workflows. Rules created for milestone tasks provide an accurate percentage of completion from the task level to a project level.  

Versions and associated files were stored along with the document thus avoiding loss of time in locating documents. The exclusive Document Search option with meta-data sorting provided easier document retrievals. Document templates with data mapping from Wrench brought in standardization for quality purposes.  

Transmittal management and the report generation feature aided in easier monitoring of the documents with the client.
