Kolkata, 01-02-2020: Engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has chosen Wrench SmartProject as its project monitoring platform on a major project for Etihad Rail Company PJSC which manages the development, construction and operation of the UAE’s national freight and passenger railway network. L&T will design and build freight handling facilities at seven strategic locations across the UAE. This project will be executed in a joint venture with Power China.

L&T chose SmartProject after evaluating similar products in the project information management space, including Oracle Aconex. The scope of work involves design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of bulk material handling systems (rail loading and unloading systems) with associated civil and structural works, bulk material storage facilities, general cargo and container handling facilities with freight terminal management and control system

L&T wanted a real-time monitoring and control system that could prevent delays and cost overruns and replace their older internal legacy systems that they had been using to manage and execute projects. Specifically they wanted a system that offered EDMS, Progress Monitoring, Schedule Management and Dashboards. They chose Wrench SmartProject because its single integrated platform had all the functions they were looking for,  including ‘live’ dashboards, advanced monitoring, seamless integration with schedules and budgets, and intuitive work tracking functions that will allow project stakeholders to monitor project progress at any level, online.

The implementation will be done as a fast-track project and is slated for completion in 60 days.

Said Gaurav, Project Manager, Wrench, “This is a complex project thanks to the involvement of many external vendors and the remote location of the multiple work sites but I am confident that the complexity will be successfully offset by SmartProject’s integrated capabilities. We will deploy offline servers that can be placed at sites and will allow us to address all of L&T’s requirements.”
